Why Drones?

First blog... Ever.
My name is Andrew. Those who know me would probably not believe that I would be writing a blog! Well here I am... overcoming my normally shy disposition and putting my words out to the public archives. I am the owner of Polk Drones, LLC and would like to give you a quick introduction.

I have always been interested in technology, photography, exploring new territory, and collaborating with like-minded folks who are mostly interested in the question of "What if...?" I have spent my life answering those types of "what if" questions with a "Let's find out!" approach. Don't worry, not in a "Hold me beer!" sort of way. I have spent the better part of the last 30 years immersing myself in overlapping/interconnected industries where I have managed to shape a collective of applied experiences.

Why drones?

I am excited to be a part of the rapidly growing Drone Service Provider industry. I am able to draw from my experiences in these previously mentioned industries such as Construction, GIS Mapping, Field Data Collection, Entertainment Industry, Photographer, Videographer, Sound Recording Engineering, Video Editor, and Web Design Company Owner.

Aerial photography provides an important, useful dynamic that a lot of people haven't had access to until recent advancements by Google Maps and other similar web sites and apps. There are many uses for those free aerial photos and I use them on a daily basis. There are also limitations. The frequency in which they are updated could be measured in years and the resolution is not very detailed. That is acceptable for some applications. Drones, however, can provide extremely detailed still imagery and video up to 4K resolution! The mapping and even surveying capabilities are truly impressive. Drones can be deployed whenever and as often as needed for the task at hand. Please feel free to reach out and contact me if you have any questions or ideas concerning how drone mapping or photography could improve your daily workflow. I will be posting more about the various ways the done industry is improving business operations across many disciplines.
